Miami-Dade Voters To Decide On Contested Judicial Races

Mauricio Padilla, a Coconut Grove lawyer in Miami us set on challenging Judge David Miller for a seat on the circuit court bench. The pair have a somewhat tempestuous background, but the contest between the two will be decided in the election on August 14, where this will be just one of a dozen other races on the ballot.  Miller has stated that he hasn’t seen his competitor, Padilla, at any of the candidate forums, which is considered not to be good practice.

Miller is well versed in politics as he is seeking his third six-year term on the bench.  Miller has spoken out about Padilla, suspecting that he has run against him because he was not pleased with a ruling Miller made on a case that made it difficult for Padilla to get his legal fees. However Miller has stayed silent on the case, a ten-year attorney who specialised in civil litigation and family law he refused to comment when asked to speak out on the competition between himself and Padilla by The Miami Herald.  Voters in Miami-Dade County Court will also be deciding the outcome in eight judicial races in which the judges will oversee small civil claims and other misdemeanour cases.
